But first! ... An introductory ramble: "While compiling this broader A.G.I.M. site I was reminded that I had not documented my own accidental and long 'career' as a DJ and promoter. To begin with, other people talked me in to being a DJ - social groups wanted events and I had a rare big collection of music; back in the expensive days of vinyl & CD albums. And so they persuaded me to provide the music. And that happened again and again over the years. As a musician I thought of DJing as "a little short-term hobby"; as nothing serious that I'd stop doing any day soon; that any gig might be the last one.

However, despite retiring several times, I've DJ'd at ~400 club events and hosted ~500 radio shows. During several peak periods I was DJing at clubs 3-6 nights per month and presenting 4-6 hours of radio per week; for many years in a row. See below for links to pages with lists and imagery (flyers & posters). So with that amount of life given to it - more than ten thousand hours (eeek!) - I suppose I ought to own it. It was "a little short-term hobby" that often took over my life!

Making this archive was a good exercise to accept "well that's what I did with all that time!" And ponder the great big blur of so many nights of good music, zingy lights and hours of dancing among friends - creatures of the night trying to escape the nonsense of the day world. ;]

This archive is also a belated effort to make up for being terrible at "branding" during so many active years of busy-ness. I didn't even have a DJ name for the first several years. That seemed to be a bit too serious for a hobby. And I liked being an anonymous entity who made the music happen from the dark cavelike DJ booths. I cringed-to-the-max at the hype associated with DJing. Eventually I accepted that as the club names often changed, and I was working at several venues, that a DJ title meant people could know who was DJing at different clubs. For several years it was "J. Citizen" because I found that suitably anonymous and amusing. That became DJ Citizen. Under that title I particularly enjoyed the artistic side of making epic cataclysmic multi-track noisey mashup mixes. Later, after some other DJ titles that were used only a few times, I recommenced long-term as "DJ Robot". At that stage I was often playing people's requests or what they otherwise wanted to hear; "dancefloor-fillers" and "crowd-pleasers". So that title seemed apt. Eventually the names merged to "DJ Robot Citizen"...

Oh & BTW, please excuse the switches between first and third person vernacular in this archive. Let's say it's a robot vs citizen conflict thing ... or that I can't be bothered editing it all just now to be consistent ... something to do when I'm ~80 :]"

4. RADIO SHOWS

In all DJ Robot Citizen has presented around 500 radio programs; mostly on Community Radio Station 2XX 98.3 FM. Firstly, of most relevance to this site, here is a link to some of the playlists for the "S.I.N.G.E.D." Dark Alternative Music Radio Show for 2010-2015 ... The show's title refers to the music genres & styles of: Synth-wave/pop/punk/rock - Industrial - Noise - Goth/Gothic - Elektro/E.B.M./Electronica - Darkwave ... The show commenced in 2001. DJ Robot co-founded the program and co-hosted it during 2001-2006 and 2010-2015, either once-a-month or fortnightly = around 130-150 shows.

5. SOCIAL MEDIA

FWIW I avoided social media until you *had* to be on them to reach people with news about social events. It was belatedly, way after their bell curves, that I adapted some accounts to be "dj robot citizen". That was done to be part of a case study to see which sites are good for ranking certain content in search engine results. That's information I use for other projects. So in the interest of connecting it all up for search engines, and for making it easier for myself to find these different pages in future, here are links to:
